Yes baby, it is cold outside and the forecast for Fashion Week still includes ice and snow but (fingers-crossed) dry, sunny days are on the horizon. We think this gorgeous blue leather jacket from the Akris Resort 2015 collection is the perfect wardrobe addition to usher them in. For our clients in warmer climes, this simple yet sophisticated look is perfect right now for those cooler day or more casual evening outings.

Akris’ Albert Kreimler reportedly looked to a city in the Rif Mountains of Morocco called Chefchaouen, famous for its blue-painted buildings, for inspiration for this collection. In a shade Akris calls azurite, this lusciously soft lamb leather jacket exemplifies the dominant color and ultra-fine fabrics employed in the collection.

Here we pair the jacket, both edgy and ladylike with its asymmetric zipper and peplum, with a crisp white cotton shirt, skinny techno pant, and bag, all by Akris.

The trapezoidal shape of the Ai bag in Akris’ iconic woven dyed horsehair fabric (Mongolia) echoes the beautiful architecture of the peplum jacket. Its simple, clean lines belie the complex process of sustainably harvesting and producing the gorgeously textured horsehair fabric. Wear it as shown here with its removable serpentine chain strap or carry it as a fabulous clutch.
