We think these gorgeous cotton pieces by Prada with their exotic patterns and rich colors are so fabulous?for transitioning into fall. ?BUT, a special story lies in the prints themselves which we want to share with you- great for water cooler talk, lunch with your fashionista friends or breaking the ice with your latest sartorialist blind date!

Holliday & Brown of London’s history dates to 1919 when Aubrey Brown opened?a small shop specializing in men’s ties in the heart of Mayfair, London’s “sartorial” district. ?Soon after, he visited?the US where his ties quickly?became all the rage. ?Along with his brother and a friend, Holliday &?Brown Ltd. was officially launched in 1926.?H&B quickly became considered?the?tie company “par excellence” due in part to their quality materials and craftsmanship but especially?due to unique graphic and pattern designs which though varied have a?precise style that made them highly recognizable and iconic.

Success led to a relocation to Savile Row in the 60’s and H&B’s?extraordinary prints and eccentric colors continued to heighten the brand’s appeal. ?In 2000 the Italian family-owned?Mantero acquired the brand and the Holliday & Brown archives: more than 100 volumes,?endless collections of drawings, hundreds of samples and designs created on fabric were transferred to Mantero‘s Via Volta headquarters in Como, Italy.

We love?the history lesson here and the thought of all those beautiful volumes of archived iconic prints! SO, it turns out that Prada has done garment and accessory collaborations using these Holliday & Brown prints for over?a decade. ?Considered highly collectible because they are produced in limited runs, the collaborations have included garments and accessories.

Miuccia?Prada had these Holliday &?Brown prints produced in cotton and fashioned into the great dress and pants we show here. ?The hand of the cotton is incredible, silky soft to the touch, but with a crispness that gives the clothes great drape. ?The dress is blocked with two differing patterns and complimented by ?wide top-stitched bands of black cotton at the waist, high chest and running vertically front and back. The pants have slit front pockets, taper down the leg and are ankle length.

We styled the pants with a great Derek Lam top and bold vintage jewelry here. ?The dress is shown with and without a bold chunky necklace and with black and gold heels. It all works! Dress these pieces up or down, layer on jewels and sweaters for day. Add a statement vintage clutch or bag. They will take you into fall in patterned?style!
